If you are bothered by the “turkey wattle” on your neck, consider a neck lift in New Jersey. This form of cosmetic neck plastic surgery can address sagging skin, excess fat, and drooping muscles. Patients look more youthful, and results are long-lasting.

What Is a Neck Lift?

The neck may sag as a result of aging or dramatic weight loss or weight gain, as well as genetics, and is often affected before the face. Loose neck muscles can lead to an appearance of bands on the neck that, along with skin laxity, can lead to a turkey wattle appearance. Neck lifts are a procedure that can restore and tighten the skin on the neck and provide a more toned and youthful appearance. The results of this procedure offer a drastic improvement to the appearance of the neck and subtle changes to overall appearance. A neck lift may be performed alongside a facelift, , or may be performed alone, after which your friends and family may not even realize that a surgical procedure was performed.

Getting a neck lift from Dr. Pedy Ganchi reduces the signs of aging, like loose skin, wrinkles, and jowls, and rejuvenates the neck. It lifts and tightens the skin, creates a beautiful, defined jawline and neck angle, and removes a double chin. Visit us to learn more about how a neck lift can help enhance your aesthetic.

Am I a Candidate for a Neck Lift Procedure?

You are an ideal candidate for a neck lift surgery if you want to contour your double chin or address drooping jowls. Patients who seek treatment of the wrinkly, dangling neck tissue referred to indelicately as a “turkey wattle” may be recommended to undergo a neck lift procedure.

It is vital to be in good overall health and a non-smoker. With any surgical undertaking, it is important that you have no underlying conditions that may jeopardize your recovery, or that these underlying conditions are well-controlled.

A neck lift is not ideal for people who lack skin laxity in the neck area and who cannot take enough time off work for a full recovery. It is also not recommended for those who have unrealistic expectations of what the surgery can achieve.

The Consultation

Your consultation with Dr. Pedy Ganchi will involve a medical history and a physical examination of your face and neck area.

Current medications and prior procedures will be discussed. You will be asked about your goals and expectations. Then, an individualized treatment plan will be formulated to address your needs specifically.

Neck Lift Surgery

A neck lift procedure includes both a cervicoplasty to remove excess skin and a platysmaplasty to restore muscles in the neck. Liposuction can also be used to remove excess fat during a neck lift. This takes two to three hours and may be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the preference of the patient. Most procedures are performed within an outpatient basis.

Neck Lift Recovery

The length of downtime and recovery after neck lift surgery depends on the body’s natural healing process. Swelling and bruising may occur shortly after the procedure and last up to seven to ten days. Most individuals may return to work and other regular activities within 10 to 14 days after a neck lift procedure.

It will be vital to follow Dr. Ganchi’s recovery directions as closely as possible. The neck and head may be wrapped in a bandage for a day to reduce post-surgical swelling. You may be instructed to wear an elastic support garment for two weeks to manage the swelling. To lessen the stress on your jaw, it helps to maintain a soft diet. Surgical drains may be placed for a day or two to drain excess fluid.

Be gentle with your neck during recovery. Minimize neck bends and twists for 10 days or so. Try to keep your neck as still and straight as possible. At night, keep your head elevated. Protect your neck further by wearing loose button-down tops. Prescribed pain medication may be used in the early healing phase as directed.

Avoid strenuous activities for three to four weeks. Make sure to apply sunscreen and to avoid prolonged sun exposure while recovering. You may experience complete healing about three to six months after the neck lift. After the healing process, patients can enjoy a more youthful-looking neck.

There are certain risks involved in a neck lift, as there are with any surgical procedure, including difficulty with anesthesia or infection. There is also a risk of facial nerve damage that may occur during surgery and can result in muscle paralysis. Although these complications are rare, they emphasize the importance of choosing a skilled and experienced surgeon for your cosmetic procedures.

Testimonials

“Dr. Ganchi was terrific. She is very personable and her staff is great. Most of all, I love that she is an excellent plastic surgeon. I am 56 and had a facelift to rid myself of the droopy jaws and increasing wrinkles in the neck. Not one person guessed what I had done. 3-4 Weeks later, I got a lot of “You look great”, “Did you change your hair”, etc. No windblown, over pulled effect. So happy to have trimmed 10+ years off my face.”

The Cost of a Neck Lift Procedure

Typically, the average neck lift ranges from $12,000 to $18,000. Surgical facility fees and anesthesia costs also affect the procedure’s overall price.

Additionally, the amount of time required to perform the procedure and other ancillary enhancements can play a role in determining neck lift costs.
