At Village Plastic Surgery, we are proud to offer Dr. Pedy Ganchi’s extensive experience and expertise in liposuction, the single most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S. Dr Ganchi uses liposuction to sculpt the body by removing undesirable fat that has not responded to diet and exercise from the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, back, thighs, knees, calves, upper arms, chin, and neck.
Liposuction in Ridgewood and Bergen County, NJ, not only offers the opportunity to slim and contour disproportionate areas of the body by removing the fat cells, but it also ensures that these areas will not easily accumulate fatty deposits.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to remove stubborn fat deposits and sculpt the body for a more contoured appearance. This body contouring surgery targets areas where fat accumulates despite diet and exercise, such as the abdomen, back, thighs, hips, arms, back, chin, and neck.
Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure but a method for refining body shape by eliminating localized fat pockets that are resistant to traditional weight management efforts. When combined with a healthy lifestyle, the results are long-lasting.
Common Areas Treated with Liposuction
Liposuction can be performed on various areas of the body where excess fat accumulates. Some of the most commonly treated areas include:
- Abdomen & Waist – Removes stubborn belly fat for a flatter stomach
- Hips & Flanks (Love Handles) – Creates a more contoured waistline
- Thighs (Inner & Outer) – Slims down bulky thighs for better leg definition
- Knees & Calves – Enhances leg shape by removing excess fat deposits
- Arms – Reduces upper arm fullness for toned-looking arms
- Back (Upper & Lower) – Eliminates back rolls and bra bulges
- Chin & Neck – Defines the jawline and reduces double chin appearance
Benefits of Liposuction Surgery
Liposuction offers numerous benefits beyond just fat removal:
- Provides long-lasting body contouring results
- Improves overall body proportions and symmetry
- Boosts self-confidence by enhancing physical appearance
- Can be combined with other cosmetic procedures like tummy tuck or breast augmentation
- Minimally invasive with a relatively short recovery time compared to other surgical options
By permanently removing unwanted fat cells from targeted areas, liposuction helps patients achieve their ideal physique while maintaining natural-looking results.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
Ideal candidates for liposuction surgery should meet these criteria:
- Are at or near their ideal weight but struggle with localized fat pockets
- Have firm and elastic skin for smooth contours after surgery
- Maintain realistic expectations about what liposuction can achieve
- Are generally healthy without underlying medical conditions that could affect healing
It’s important to note that liposuction is not intended as a weight-loss procedure but rather as an effective method of refining body shape through targeted fat removal.
Your Liposuction Consultation
Before a patient undergoes a liposuction treatment in New Jersey, a consultation will be conducted by Dr. Pedy Ganchi. The patient must be transparent with Dr. Ganchi regarding past procedures and allergies. They must also tell her about medications or supplements they consume.
Typically, surgeons recommend stopping medications such as painkillers and blood thinners several weeks before liposuction surgery. Failure to observe the restrictions may trigger certain side effects during or after the surgery.
Liposuction Techniques
The liposuction procedure begins with the injection of a solution composed of saline (salt water), a local anesthetic called lidocaine, and a small amount of adrenaline to decrease bruising and bleeding. Depending on the ratio of the fluid to the fatty tissue being removed, this technique is known as either the tumescent or super-wet technique.
Once this solution has been introduced into the area planned for liposuction treatment, the doctor proceeds with one of two different methods of liposuction currently approved by plastic surgeons: suction-assisted lipectomy (SAL) or laser-assisted lipectomy.
In both methods, a tiny incision is made in as inconspicuous a place as possible. In SAL, a cannula (small tube) is inserted and moved back and forth beneath the skin, breaking up the fat layer and suctioning it out. The laser-assisted liposuction method may help break up the fat cells prior to suction aspiration.
The Liposuction Healing Process
Once your lipo procedure is complete, you will return home to heal and recover. Follow Dr. Pedy Ganchi’s, based in New Jersey, post-surgical care directions for a shorter and more comfortable recovery process with minimal complications.
It is quite common for the patient to experience slight pain for a few days after liposuction treatment. Typically, surgeons prescribe analgesics and/or over-the-counter pain relief medications to keep any pain in check.
After liposuction, temporary swelling and bruising are present. Bruising resolves within seven to 10 days. Typically, swelling can take between two and six months to fully disappear. Wearing a post-surgical garment and using ice packs can help with this process. Once all swelling has ameliorated, patients can enjoy their final liposuction results.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost?
The cost of a liposuction procedure varies from patient to patient. The total price of lipo is dependent on the amount of fat being removed, the techniques utilized, the number and size of treatment regions, and the overall time needed to perform the surgery.
Anesthesia fees and facility costs also affect the final price. When more than one area is being treated with liposuction, the procedure is priced at a discounted rate.
