A facelift is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures, designed to treat wrinkles, sagging and skin laxity within the face and neck for a younger, more refreshed appearance. As we age, the effects of time, gravity, sun exposure and stress inevitably take their toll on our faces and necks, producing wrinkles, folds, fat deposits and loose skin.
What Is a Facelift?
A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure which helps reverse the visible signs of aging on the face and neck. Dr. Pedy Ganchi performs face and neck lifts with precision to lift and rejuvenate your skin for a youthful look. It gives a more dramatic result and significant restoration compared with less invasive procedures.
Ideal Candidates for Facelift Surgery
Patients unhappy with the changing appearance of their face may seek relief through a facelift. This time-tested procedure targets the mid- to lower face, including the cheeks, mouth, jawline, chin and neck. Ideal candidates are usually those in their 40s, 50s or 60s looking to reverse the early signs of aging in the face, are generally healthy, non tobacco users, and have realistic expectations for surgery.
Your Consultation
Dr. Ganchi will inquire about your expectations and desired outcome during your consultation. Be prepared to discuss your current medications and medical conditions. This is also the best time to ask questions regarding the risks and recovery for facelift surgery.
She will physically examine your target areas and discuss the best course of treatment, including accessory procedures for the eyelids, brows and lips.
How Is Facelift Surgery Performed?
Your facelift surgery will begin with the administration of general anesthesia. Next Dr. Ganchi will make the incisions, which are usually made by the hairline near the ears so they won’t be visible.
The underlying tissue is lifted, the strong tissue called the SMAS is repositioned, and excess skin will be precisely trimmed away. The incisions will be repaired by absorbable and removable sutures.
Facelift Surgery Recovery
A bandage may be placed around your face for support and to control bruising and swelling and there may be drains placed in the surgical sites. Dr. Ganchi will prescribe medications to help relieve discomfort and the results of the procedure will be visible once most of the swelling subsides within one month.
Testimonials
“Dr. Ganchi was terrific. She is very personable and her staff is great. Most of all, I love that she is an excellent plastic surgeon. I am 56 and had a facelift to rid myself of the droopy jaws and increasing wrinkles in the neck. Not one person guessed what I had done. 3-4 Weeks later, I got a lot of “You look great”, “Did you change your hair”, etc. No windblown, over pulled effect. So happy to have trimmed 10+ years off my face.”
Facelift Cost
The cost of rhytidectomy surgery varies from patient to patient. A facelift can be priced between $12,000 and $18,000. Overall cost is also impacted by surgical facility and anesthesia fees, along with total surgical time.
