Both a traditional full facelift and a mini facelift performed by Dr Pedy Ganchi in New Jersey can give you amazing results. The technique that is right for you depends on the extent of your signs of facial aging as well as your personal expectations.
The Benefits of a Mini Facelift
As the name suggests, a mini facelift is a modified version of a conventional facelift. It requires shorter incisions, making it less invasive. It is designed to restore the cheeks, jawline and upper neck, softening the appearance of folds and wrinkles. As such, it is more suitable for younger individuals and allows for a somewhat shorter recovery process. Results will be subtle instead of dramatic.
Your Consultation
Before the surgery, Dr. Ganchi will discuss your expected goals and outcomes with you. She will show you before-and-after images to give you a better idea of your potential results.
Dr. Ganchi will discuss your complete medical history with you, including any allergies or past procedures. You will be required to stop smoking for a month before surgery and for the entirety of the recovery process. You must also stop taking blood thinners and herbals supplements a couple of weeks before surgery since they can lead to bleeding complications.
Surgery Details
In a mini facelift, local anesthesia with sedation is administered. Dr. Ganchi makes incisions at the hairline near the ears and extending partly behind the ear. The incisions are more limited compared with those made for the traditional facelift.
She will then carefully lift the SMAS layer and tighten its position. The SMAS, or superficial muscular aponeurotic system, is a layer of tissue that is located deep within the skin and above the facial muscles. The SMAS is one of the main support structures of the face and can be deftly manipulated to restore and lift the cheeks and jawline.
Incisions are repaired with sutures. A bandage may be applied to the region. Drains may be placed to avoid hematomas and seromas.
The Recovery Process
Most patients are able to move about freely right after the mini facelift procedure. There may be some minor swelling and pain in the incision areas, but these are short-lived and are nothing to be concerned about. Mild bruising is expected and will gradually resolve over the week.
People can return to work a couple of weeks after the surgery but shouldn’t undertake any strenuous activities for 3-4 weeks. Healing may be hampered if patients use steam and sauna facilities too soon or if they drink alcohol.
Once healing is complete, you will be able to see the full, long-lasting results of the mini facelift. Generally, an expertly crafted facelift can turn back the clock and last about 10 years.
Mini Facelift Cost
The fees for a mini facelift is determined by a number of factors. The time required to perform the surgery, the accessory procedures like fat grafting or eyelid tuck, and the type of anesthesia administered all play a role in mini facelift cost.
Typically, a mini facelift costs anywhere from $8,000 to $12,000. In certain cases, fat grafting can be included in the procedure, which affects the overall price. Facility fees also help to determine the final price.
